A choir in Edinburgh, The Chapter House Singers invite you to join us – either singing choral music with us or in the audience at our performances. The Chapter House Singers is a chamber choir of around 35 amateur singers based at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral, Palmerston Place, Edinburgh. We sing the cathedral services on five or six Sundays a year, standing in for the Cathedral Choir; we also perform two concerts every season. We thus perform a wide range of choral music. The music for the services ranges from Tallis and Byrd through Charpentier and Duruflé to Stanford and Leighton. We are one of the few choirs in Scotland to sing the service of Evensong regularly. Our concert repertoire over the years has included the Mozart C Minor Mass; Britten’s St Nicolas; Rachmaninov’s Vespers and Schubert songs. We rehearse on Wednesdays at 7.30pm in the Song School at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral, Palmerston Place, Edinburgh. It is a great privilege to sing in the Song School: its famous murals by Pheobe Traquair are only rarely open to the public. Vacancies exist in all soprano, alto, tenor and bass sections: If you would be interested in joining us please contact (Tel: 228 1909) for more details.
